The best archers of 2007
Lisatud: 15.01.2008
The annual tradition of awarding recognition, titles and prizes to the best archers was continued at the Christmas party of the Field Archery Association of Estonia. This year the title of «The Act of the Year 2007» was awarded to the archery club Estonian Bowhunters. Congratulations on the distinguished recognition to all Estonian bowhunters! We are honoured to have in our ranks «The Man of the Year», world champion in the bowhunting – Aare Lauren from Kullamaa. In addition to the titles awarded by the Field Archery Association of Estonia, the Estonian Bowhunters club also remembered its own members by awarding the annual title of «The Bowhunter of the Year» to Toivo Aarniste from Kajamaa and «The Bowhuntress of the Year» to Monika Hõim from Tartu club. The title of «The Bowhunter/Bowhuntress of the Year» is awarded to the archers with the highest scores at 3D competitions during the year.
The management of the Estonian Bowhunters wishes you all sharp eye and steady hand in the New Year.
About us
Who are we and what is our objective?
Our club was established on 12 January 2007 and we aim to bring together all Estonian bowhunters and hunters interested in shooting on 3D targets and bowhunting in Estonia.
With the help of our members and sponsors we acquired 28-target 3D course in order to provide bowhunting opportunities for those interested in shooting on 3D targets, and organised spring training camp in Kütiorg Valley, which will hopefully become an annual tradition. We have been to various competitions abroad and have also established contacts with our first friendship clubs.
Although the process of legalisation of bowhunting in Estonia, which is our main long-term goal, is still in its very early stage, the meetings and negotiations with the Estonian Hunters’ Society have been successful and we have come to a conclusion that the time is right for introduction of bowhunting in Estonia.
Yours faithfully,
Rita-Anette Kohava

Bowhunting
Managers of hunting organisations to be presented with the basics of bowhunting
On 19 September the executive managers of the member organisations of the Estonian Hunters’ Society met at Kajamaa to discuss the issue of „Theoretical and practical introduction to the „hunting grounds” of bowhunting“. Bowhunting has gained many supporters during recent years.
Tom of Kajamaa (Toomas Taimla) gave a competent and emotional lecture on that issue to the managers of Estonian hunting organisations.
International programme is available for obtaining education on bowhunting („International Bowhunter Education Program”), completion of which grants the right to practice it in the countries where bowhunting is legal. As for Estonian hunters, the first five people have completed that programme and are currently proud holders of international bowhunting licence.
Based on the Hunters’ Reunion held this summer and the meeting of managers of hunting organisations at Kajamaa on 19 September we may say that our hunters are ready to accept the new way of hunting. Apparently the time has come to legalise bowhunting in our country as well.
